Can anyone provide me with the official answer as to why the hexagonal, carbon molecule shape was decided upon rather than keeping the ninety degree corner inherent in a sheet of plywood?  From one sheet of 4X8 plywood I can get 2 ninety degree four-foot corners and 2 four-foot straights.  Whereas with the hexagonal corners I get 2 four-foot corners and only 1 four-foot straight.
